Do you dream of a full week by the Polish sea but don't want to spend it only on a deckchair? A week in Świnoujście in summer is a combination that brings together a golden beach, bike trips abroad, evening concerts under the stars, and the taste of real Vietnamese coffee at sunset. In this article, you will find a ready-to-use plan for each day — from arrival to check-out — so you don’t have to figure anything out on the spot.

Świnoujście is no random choice. The city has the widest beach in Poland (over 200 meters!), a spa tradition of over 130 years, direct access to German imperial resorts, and a summer event calendar bursting at the seams. And when you add a base in an intimate hotel 100 meters from the waterline, with a full breakfast to start the day and dinner to end it — you have a recipe for a holiday after which you’ll return truly rested.

Why exactly a week in Świnoujście in summer?

Seven days is the perfect length to feel the rhythm of this city. A weekend trip gives only a taste — a week allows for real slowing down. July and August in Świnoujście mean an average air temperature of around 22°C, and the sea warms up to 18–20°C. These are comfortable conditions both for sunbathing and active sightseeing.

In the summer, Świnoujście is vibrant with cultural events. The International FAMA Festival in August attracts artists from across Europe, the Grechuta Festival (turn of July and August) fills the city with songs of one of the most important Polish bards, and evening concerts at the Concert Shell on the promenade create a unique atmosphere. There is also the Baltic Fair with local products and artisans.

All this within walking distance from Boutique Residence Irys — a hotel with over 130 years of history, located at Żeromskiego 2 Street, literally by the promenade.

7-day plan — day by day

Day 1: Arrival, beach, and the first sunset

The first day is time for acclimatization — and literally so. After arriving at Boutique Residence Irys and checking in, head straight to the beach. You are only 100 meters away from it, so you’ll be on the sand faster than you can unpack your suitcases.

The beach in Świnoujście deserves a separate paragraph. It is over 200 meters wide and is the widest beach in Poland. It is marked with the Blue Flag, confirming water cleanliness and high standards. Even at the peak of the season, you can find a spot to spread your blanket without neighbors within arm’s reach.

In the evening, be sure to take a walk along the promenade. It is a few kilometers of seaside walkway where you will find a brine graduation tower (free inhalations of sea aerosol!), the Concert Shell with summer events, and sunset views rivaling the best in Europe.

You don’t need to look far for dinner — a meal awaits you at the hotel. Breakfasts and dinners at Irys are one of the biggest advantages of the stay because they eliminate the daily stress of "where do we eat today."

Practical tips:

  • Check-in usually from 3:00 PM, but you can leave your luggage earlier
  • Check the event schedule board at the Concert Shell on the promenade for the week’s program
  • In the evening, temperature drops to 16–18°C — take a light sweatshirt

Day 2: Cruise to the Lighthouse and Fort Gerhard

After a hearty buffet breakfast at the hotel, it’s time for one of Świnoujście’s best attractions — a boat trip to the Lighthouse. The 3-in-1 ticket costs 76 PLN and includes the cruise, entrance to the Lighthouse (308 steps — views worth every step!), and a tour of Fort Gerhard, a 19th-century sea fortress.

The cruise itself is an attraction. You sail through the port, passing huge ferries and cargo ships — children and adults alike are equally delighted. The Lighthouse is the tallest on the Polish coast, and the panorama from its top includes all of Świnoujście, German islands, and the endless Baltic Sea.

Fort Gerhard, on the other hand, is a journey back in time. A massive 19th-century fortress with brick casemates and underground corridors impresses even those who are not fans of military history.

Spend the afternoon on the beach. After the morning tour, you deserve a few hours of lazy sunbathing. The sea in July and August is 18–20°C — warm enough to enter without hesitation.

In the evening, visit one of the local restaurants.

Day 3: Bicycle trip to Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin

This is one of the best days of the entire week. A bicycle trip to the three imperial resorts on the island of Usedom on the German side is a must. The route is about 22 km round trip and is very easy — mostly along flat bike paths along the coast.

You can rent a bike at a rental only 100 meters from the hotel. Prices start at 50 PLN per day for a traditional bike and 100 PLN for an electric bike.

Route: Świnoujście → Ahlbeck (approx. 3–4 km) → Heringsdorf (approx. 7 km) → Bansin (approx. 11 km). You return the same way or choose a route through the forest area.

Ahlbeck is the first stop — a charming town with a pier from 1899, the oldest on the Baltic Sea. Heringsdorf amazes with a 508-meter-long pier — one of the longest in continental Europe. It’s worth stopping here for lunch — seaside restaurants serve fresh fish and classic German dishes.

Bansin is the smallest and most intimate of the three resorts. Beautiful villa architecture from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, peace and quiet.

The whole trip will take you 4–6 hours, depending on pace and length of the lunch break. You’ll be back early enough to jump into the sea before dinner.

Tips:

  • Bring an ID (Schengen border, but good to have it with you)
  • There is an ATM by the pier in Heringsdorf, but most places accept cards
  • The bike path is marked and safe for children

Day 4: Beach day, aquapark, and concert at the Concert Shell

Halfway through your vacation — time for a full day of relaxation. Morning and late morning dedicate yourself to sunbathing. 200 meters of sand await — spread out, read a book, build sandcastles with kids, swim in the Baltic Sea.

In the afternoon we suggest a visit to Baltic Park Molo Aquapark. It is an excellent alternative for days when the wind is too strong for the beach but also complements a beach marathon. Slides, pools, and relaxation areas will satisfy both children and adults.

In the evening, return to the promenade and see what’s playing at the Concert Shell. Summer evenings feature free concerts — from jazz to classical music to songs from past decades. The atmosphere is magical: music, the sound of the sea, warm evening. Bring a blanket or sit on a bench and let yourself be carried away.

If you happen to be here during the FAMA Festival (August) or Grechuta Festival (late July and August), the cultural program is even richer. Concerts, shows, art workshops — there is no chance to be bored.

To end the day, drop by Cafe Irys. The café is open daily from 12:00 to 22:00 (on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00), and its homemade pastries and real Vietnamese coffee perfectly close the day. This is a place with a soul — unhurried, with a view of the alley leading to the sea.

Day 5: Fort Zachodni, Spa Park, Museum, and wellness

Day five combines history, nature, and body relaxation. In the morning, book a treatment at the Wellness Boutique Residence Irys area. We recommend a combination of algae bath and massage (from 45 PLN). The algae bath regenerates skin and joints, and the massage induces total relaxation. It’s the perfect mid-week treatment — body and mind get a reset before the last days of vacation.

Other available treatments include brine bath, peat bath, or hydromassage on a water bed. It’s worth booking on the first day as places fill quickly in the season.

Before noon head to Fort Zachodni. This massive 19th-century fortress protects the port’s western entrance. Thick walls, underground corridors, and panoramic views of the waterway — an impressive place.

In the afternoon, take a walk through the Spa Park. It covers 58 hectares of greenery — one of the largest seaside parks in Europe. Old trees, walking paths, squirrels, and absolute silence in the heart of the resort. A perfect spot for a calm walk or jogging.

Later, visit the Maritime Fishing Museum (free entry on Sundays). The exhibition tells about the fishing traditions of Western Pomerania, Baltic catches, and fishermen’s lives. A small but atmospheric museum.

Day 6: Bicycle loop through Kamminke OR Underground City

Day six gives you a choice — depending on your mood and weather.

Option A: Bicycle loop through Kamminke and Golm Cemetery (15–25 km)

This trip is of a completely different character than the imperial resorts ride. The route goes inland through forests, fields, and quiet German villages. Kamminke is a tiny fishing settlement by the Szczecin Lagoon — time seems to have stood still here. Golm War Cemetery is a place of reflection — over 2000 victims of the bombing of Świnoujście in March 1945 rest here.

The route is flat and calm, ideal for half a day. You will return for lunch and have the whole afternoon free.

Option B: Underground City (ticket about 50 PLN, approx. 2 hours)

If you prefer to stay in the city, the Underground City is a fascinating attraction. Underground corridors and bunkers from WWII, stretching under the city, are open for guided tours. Constant temperature, dark atmosphere, and stories that take your breath away. Book in advance as tours have limited spots.

In the evening is a good time for dinner at a restaurant on the promenade.

And after dinner — another stroll along the promenade. We guarantee you’ll still enjoy the seventh evening.

Day 7: Last breakfast, promenade, and farewell

The last day is time to close the holiday chapter. Start with a buffet breakfast at the hotel — since it’s included, celebrate it. Don’t rush, pour a second coffee, reach for a third croissant.

After check-out (but before departure), take one last walk along the promenade. Walk to the brine graduation tower, take a photo of Stawie Młyny — one of Świnoujście’s most recognizable symbols — and breathe in the sea air in advance.

Be sure to stop by Cafe Irys for a farewell coffee. Vietnamese drip coffee, homemade cake — this is the moment when you promise yourself you’ll come back.

Świnoujście in summer lives with culture. Here are events worth planning your stay around:
